This spacious guest house is located at 324 N. Union in Council Grove, just three blocks from Main Street. Picture yourself rocking on the front porch, playing checkers in the parlor, or sipping wine on the sun porch!
This charming home is adorned with antique furnishings, and you and your guests will be able to enjoy the ambiance of the early 1900s during your stay. This historic home is where President Harry Truman also stayed while visiting Council Grove’s Mayor W.L. Young and his wife Josie. It is a home that has intrigued the local citizens for decades, yet it came dangerously close to being demolished before being purchased and renovated as a guest home for many to enjoy. Marvel over the floral murals that Josie Young had painted on the walls of the upstairs bedrooms almost 90 years ago, murals which were lovingly preserved during the recent renovation of the house. Check out the Hollyhock Room, the Rose Room, and the Wisteria Room!
The Young Guest House is within walking distance of many restaurants, great shops, walking trails, and is right next to the Community Life Center, the baseball and softball fields, swimming pool and park, disc golf course and soccer complex. The home has ample space to accommodate a large family, a group of friends, several business associates, or a group of quilters or bridesmaids!
